I know several folks like that. Most of them are professional victims of Watchcorp. I feel bad for them, but if they are happy, who am I to judge or deny them their peace?

Do you remember the "Snodgrass" family?...I'm sure you must.
by Gregor inthey were the family of hard working ma and pa with 3 or 4 well scrubbed, decently dressed kids who never missed a meeting.
they arrived in a well used van.
the back was either full of mops, brooms, vacuums, window washing equipment or rakes, shovels and lawnmowers.

What does your Avi mean to you and why have you chosen it?
by FreedomFrog ini'm sure this has been posted before but i think many have changed their avi's.
my avi:.
the frog i have now has a gavel...i liked it because to me, it's giving the impression of being released from bondage (as in a prisoners case).

I am part Native American. Tewa and Mescalero Apache. I also fancy myself a warrior of sorts.

Are you honest with your kids?
by JWdaughter inmy daughter is a talented cartoonist and makes the funniest sketches.
way too much irony for a 16 yo!
she isn't technically proficient exactly, but she captures a mood so well that i halfway think if she were 'better' it might ruin the charm.

Tired of the Hypocrisy
My son gets the truth from me about 95% of the time. If he asks me something I feel I should give him a straight answer. When I do fib it is usually about something I did that was dumb and don't want him repeating it just for shits and giggles.

Ahhhh come on. Poor guy. He wanted to be normal that day, that's all. And he was fortunate enough to be able to make it happen. As a Niner fan who lived in San Francisco during those best of times, I can't blame him
It's not him I am really irked at. No one complained that day, so I guess we all really wanted to go watch the game. My sore spot is the hypocrisy of it all. Had this elder not been interested in the game and I had snuck out early to catch it I can bet my shorts that I would have had a talking to and probably had to start a study with an elder. To reevaluate and correct my spirituality....They are so lame.

I was living up in Federal Way, WA back then. I remember that Sunday afternoon meeting was memorable. not because the material was interesting, or even poignant. Not because the Speaker was gifted and knowlegable. Not even because the watchtower had some especially yummy spiritual food at the proper time. What stood out to me then, and still does today is how fast the whole afternoon went by.
We came in and were told to sit down asap.
No pre meeting talking was allowed this day.
We began the meeting ten minutes early.
The speaker read three scriptures and never asked the group to read any.
He wrapped up his rushed talk in about 25 minutes. That means he was done by 2:15 PM!
Another song was played and there was no reading of the watchtower.
One answer was accepted for each paragraph with no elaboration offered by the conductor.
No kids were called on to answer any questions.
The wt study ended at 2:45 PM
Another song and a quick prayer and we were all on our way out the door led by the rushing wt conductor about 1 hour after we were told to sit.
Not bad! Too bad Montana wasn't winning a game every sunday! I sort of liked the times.
And these are the guys appointed over us as shepherds, who have an accounting to make?
What hipocrites!

The Brand New 2008 Looking For Love Thread
by Tired of the Hypocrisy inon another thread i read about someone being denied by eharmony and was wondering if there are any exjw dating sites.
i wish i knew of one, but thought since someone else mentioned some folks have made a connection here that it would be a good idea to have everyone that is interested raise their hand and say if they are looking for love in all the wrong places or just looking...... i hope this post is not out of line or off topic.. i guess i will start even tho i am married.
ok, anyone interested in chatting with a fat old married cowboy?.

fat old married cowboy?
Even us so called 'apostates' have our standards.
what the hell is wrong with you?
LOL Nothing is the hell wrong with me.....Sorry if I confused anybody......
C'mon...I am not asking for a date, I said I would get the ball rolling. As in start the thread for others to use.
Like I said, I am married. And I don't stray. Witness or no I still value my mariage.
Maybe someone could open up a yahoo group for dating Ex JWs? That might be a start to test the waters and then maybe later on a full fledged site for dating?
Now, please I am not looking to date ok?

WTS Preparing for Tribulation?
by Smoky ina active jw friend, just recently commented to me that the co said all these changes (eg.. 30 min.
public talk, less magazines publications...etc.
) is a sign of the great tribulation is sooooo close now, and the wts is preparing.. i chuckled, when he said that.

That sounds so typical of a BS tactic to manipulate people and start a rumor. Does anyone else remember that once the door was shut the JWs are supposed to go around door to door and tell people they were screwed? Like:
knock knock...
Who's there?
Jehovah's Witnesses.
What do you want?
Just to tell you that you are doomed to die and only people like me are going to make it to paradise.
Oh, ok. Thanks. Have a great day in paradise...LOL
That is how most of them will get their head chopped off is more likely!

I live in a rural area of California, USA. Compared to San Francisco it is affordable. A 45 year old house with three bedrooms and two baths on about a 1/4 acre fetches nearly 350,000! REE-Diculous. The newer and fancier houses around here are closer to half a million US dollars.
